Welcome to Sugar Hill Auto Salon
Hello, my name is Larney Sayasean, and I am the owner of SHAS! I wanted to take a moment to welcome you to our page, website, blog, and maybe even our podcast. I’m really excited about the level of detailing information I plan to bring to these outlets. Truly, I don’t plan on holding anything back. I want to first bring you all up to speed about what I already know about detailing from my eight years in the industry. I’ll be sharing every secret about detailing, from tools and products to techniques.
Admittedly, I know I’m limited in my knowledge, so I plan on bringing some industry leaders to the platform to talk about their experiences and specialties. I look forward to serving, teaching, and sharing all I know to help you maintain a cleaner car.
To start off, let me tell you a bit about myself and how I got into detailing. I became a professional in April 2017 after leaving my job as an accounting assistant at a small all-boys military school in Gainesville, Georgia. I was unsure of my direction, but I knew I wanted to work with cars and make them look their best. It all started with a 2007 Acura TSX I purchased. Despite it being a clean car, I continued to wash and wax it throughout my ownership. However, a few years in, I noticed my once glossy car wasn’t as clean as when I first bought it. This led me to question my methods. It turns out I was doing a lot wrong, from my washing technique to my wax application and the type of wax I used. After extensive research, I found the proper methods and learned which worked best for the results I wanted.
My deep dive into each segment of detailing led me to a better understanding of methods to maintain and restore cars. I explored paint correction and ceramic coating, discovering numerous tools, products, and methods that worked—and some that didn’t. During this journey, I learned about defects, contaminants, and the limits of various restoration methods. My goal was to push restoration as much as possible without repainting or rebuilding. I wanted to know what was possible with detailing, and even after eight years, I feel there’s still much to learn. Armed with this knowledge, I’m eager to share everything I know with you all and learn together as new products, technology, and tools emerge.
If you’re wondering if I ever took any classes to gain more knowledge, I did not. Instead, I watched a ton of YouTube videos and experimented with different products for months. When I reached my capacity for learning from videos, I sought more advanced knowledge.
Thank you again for joining me, and I look forward to learning and detailing together.
